bio
Season 2023-24 was Coach Marissa’s first with the Loudoun Elite family. She began her volleyball career in 7th grade – beginning her career as an Outside Hitter but transitioning to a DS/L. She was a 4-year Varsity starter at Chiawana High School in Pasco, WA, where she received All-Conference and All-State recognitions and led her team to the first state tournament in school history. In college, Marissa played at Montana State University Billings (D-II) for the 2019-2022 seasons. She led her team in digs in 2019 with 400 on the season (3.70/set) and recorded double-digit digs in 20 of 29 matches played.
Coolest College Volleyball Experience:
“Getting to go on an international volleyball tour to Italy my first year of college. We played games against local teams in Florence, Venice, and Rome (and got to eat really yummy food)”.
Best Volleyball Memory:
“Beating our cross-town rivals for the first time in school history to win the district title. It was on our Pink-Out Night, the bleachers were full, and the student section stormed the court after match point.”
Coaching Experience
Coach Marissa knew she wanted to be a coach when she started working the kid’s volleyball clinics in college. She wanted to share her experiences with new generations of athletes and guide them to reach their volleyball goals. Coach Marissa began formally coaching at a local club in Montana in 2020, but the season was cut short due to COVID. After some time away from coaching due to COVID and getting her college degree, Coach Marissa moved to Virginia and began coaching at NVVA (14 Travel Assistant and 15 Regional Assistant) for the 2022-2023 club season. Coach Marissa is currently the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at Riverside High School.
